US President Donald Trump said there is "a good chance" of reaching a peace agreement on Ukraine, according to a White House broadcast.

Trump said there is "a good chance" the United States and Ukraine will be able to reach a peace agreement, responding to questions from reporters about ongoing negotiations.

"I think that there's a good chance we can make a deal," Trump said when asked to comment on the talks. He stressed that he wants to bring an end to the war, in which tens of thousands of people are dying every month.

Trump also confirmed that he had spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff after their meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Florida.

"Well, they're going along, and they're going along well," he added.

What else Trump said

When asked whether he has set any kind of deadline for Vladimir Putin to accept the US peace plan, Trump made it clear that no such deadline exists.

He also commented on the recent corruption scandal in Ukraine, saying the country faces "difficult problems." Asked to clarify, the president said that corruption-related issues "are not helpful."

US peace plan

On Sunday, 30 November, US and Ukrainian delegations held another round of talks in Miami to continue revising Trump’s peace plan.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the discussions touched on possible new elections in Ukraine and the prospect of territorial "exchange" between Russia and Ukraine.

Several key issues remain unresolved, including US and Western security guarantees for Ukraine and uncertainty over whether the Kremlin will continue to demand international recognition of occupied territories.

Both the WSJ and CNN report that Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to travel to Moscow today, 1 December, to continue negotiations with the Russian side.
