Sweden allocates largest aid package to Ukraine for recovery and development

Sweden will provide Ukraine with over 1.4 billion Swedish kronor ($137.7 million) to support recovery and development, as well as to address urgent humanitarian needs, states Swedish Minister for International Development Benjamin Dousa, according to Reuters.
He stated that the aid package, Sweden’s largest-ever civil assistance program, includes support for rebuilding destroyed infrastructure, demining efforts, and training for healthcare workers.
"Support for Ukraine is a matter of solidarity, but also of Sweden's security. The last few weeks have not been easy. It has never been clearer that we can no longer take the world's support for Ukraine for granted," Dousa said.
Sweden’s support for Ukraine
Sweden has been actively supporting Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Its assistance includes financial, humanitarian, and military aid. Stockholm provides significant funding through international organizations, supports displaced persons, and delivers humanitarian aid.
In January, Sweden announced its largest military aid package for Ukraine, worth $1.25 billion. This brings the total value of Sweden’s military assistance since the invasion to $5.6 billion.
In February, the World Bank, the European Commission, and the UN raised their estimate of Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery costs to $524 billion over the next decade.
