Sweden will provide Ukraine with the largest military aid package. Its value is 13.5 billion Swedish kronor (approximately 1.25 billion dollars), according to the Swedish Ministry of Defense.

It is noted that this package will also enhance Ukraine's capabilities in the field of long-range capabilities. Sweden intends to allocate about 1 billion Swedish kronor for Ukraine to produce long-range missiles and drones.

The package also includes doubling the previous 16 donated CB 90-class combat boats and anti-tank weapons, as well as investments to support Ukraine's defense industry.

The ministry noted that this is the 18th military aid package to Ukraine, bringing the total amount of assistance provided since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion to approximately 61.9 billion Swedish kronor (over 5.6 billion dollars).

Overall, the aid package announced on Thursday consists of eight components, the largest of which includes various purchases of the latest equipment, primarily from Swedish and other European defense sectors, for transfer to Ukraine.

The package, with a total value of 13.5 billion Swedish kronor (approximately 1.25 billion dollars), includes the following components:

  • Purchases for free transfer amounting to approximately 5.9 billion Swedish kronor;
  • Financial donations totaling approximately 2.8 billion Swedish kronor;
  • Donations of equipment from the Swedish Armed Forces with corresponding replacement purchases totaling about 3.3 billion Swedish kronor (146 trucks; 16 CB 90 boats; 23 weapon stations for naval use; 1 million 12.7mm ammunition; 1500 TOW anti-tank missiles; 200 anti-tank shells, including training equipment; infantry equipment for individual soldiers and group gear; personal protection against NBC threats);
  • Services through the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI) and the Swedish Defense University (FHS) worth approximately 180 million Swedish kronor;
  • Training valued at 650 million Swedish kronor (funding for support in preparing the Armed Forces for a variety of training initiatives throughout 2025, e.g., Interflex, which provides basic training for Ukrainian soldiers);
  • A decision on supplies worth 400 million Swedish kronor (including various maintenance measures for already provided Swedish equipment).

Sweden's assistance to Ukraine

It should be noted that Sweden has been actively supporting Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

Its assistance includes financial, humanitarian, and military support. Stockholm provides significant funds through international organizations, supports displaced persons, and delivers humanitarian aid.

In early November 2024, Sweden announced a new aid package to Ukraine, which included two ships with equipment to enhance maritime security.
