Sweden announces new aid package for Ukraine
Sweden will provide Ukraine with an aid package worth 9 million euros. This includes two vessels equipped to enhance maritime security, citing a statement from Sweden's Minister of Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin during a joint briefing with Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
According to Bohlin, the aid package includes two ships equipped to strengthen maritime security. The vessels will be transferred to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
In addition, the package includes 40,000 protective masks and respirators for use by representatives of the State Emergency Service.
"We are observing the situation and recognize that Ukraine is fighting for the entire civilized world. And we will continue to support you fully, because the security of the whole of Europe depends on you," said the Swedish minister.
Bohlin added that Sweden intends to expand cooperation between Ukrainian and Swedish ministries.
"We share your vision of the security situation, which certainly has an impact on Sweden. In addition, we want to learn from your experience in order to strengthen our security capabilities as well," he said.
Sweden's assistance to Ukraine
In September, the Swedish government announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 4.6 billion Swedish kronor (about 400 million euros).
In October, the Swedish government decided to allocate 63 million euros in support to Ukraine. This tranche will be provided as part of previous military aid packages.
Additionally, Sweden will provide Ukraine with a new humanitarian aid package ahead of winter, amounting to approximately 10.3 million dollars.
