Strike drones in Ukraine enhanced with smart chip: Details
Ukrainian developers have been able to enhance combat drones with the help of a special chip. It allows for delaying the explosion of the drone, reports Wired.
According to the source, the new development allows the operator to disarm their device from several hours to several days before the drone explodes. The chip developers claim that soon this technology can be integrated with artificial intelligence. This would enable detonation if a tank is detected nearby.
The chip developer, whose name the source changed for security purposes, stated that he is very proud of this development.
As the article's authors note, Ukrainian developers have also managed to turn drones into smart long-range mines. The feature of such drones is that the ammunition needs to fall to detonate. However, the developed chip addresses this issue - it can enhance the effectiveness of using FPV drones.
Drone production in Ukraine
Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, thousands of domestically produced drones have been supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin revealed that Ukraine has managed to establish large-scale production of equivalents to the Iranian drone Shahed. Additionally, Ukrainian manufacturers have successfully replicated the Russian kamikaze drone Lancet.
