Starmer states that Russian President Vladimir Putin will violate a peace agreement with Ukraine if the country is not protected, according to BBC.

According to the British Prime Minister, any ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine will only be "lasting" if "security arrangements in place."

"Security arrangements would make clear to Russia there would be severe consequences if they are to breach any deal," Starmer said after a meeting with senior military leadership in London.

The Prime Minister also noted that the UK and its allies are shifting from a "political momentum" to "military planning," which, according to him, "needs to be done now" before an agreement is made.

"It is vitally important we do that work because we know one thing for certain, which is a deal without anything behind it is something that Putin will breach," said the head of government.

In London, a closed meeting was held with the military leaders of 20 countries. During the meeting, participants discussed proposals for deploying troops in Ukraine to guarantee security within the framework of any peace agreement with Russia.

Following the meeting, Starmer told the media that the discussions in London focused on how to "keep the skies, and the seas, and the borders safe in Ukraine."

'Coalition of willing' for peace in Ukraine

Recently, Keir Starmer announced plans to form a so-called "Coalition of the Willing," led by the United Kingdom. The participants' task will be to organize mechanisms to protect the peace agreement and guarantee peace in Ukraine.

The British Prime Minister also stated that London is ready to deploy a peacekeeping military contingent with the support of aviation.

A summit of the "Coalition of the Willing" is scheduled for March 27 in Paris, with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. During the meeting, participants will discuss more concrete steps for short-term support for Ukraine.
