Political scandal details
Journalists say Cooper, one of the most senior and influential ministers in the government, delivered the message privately to the prime minister over the weekend.
Sir Keir Starmer is currently away from Downing Street. He is staying with his wife and children at the prime minister's country residence, Chequers.
What government says
Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle has partially commented on the situation in the Cabinet, saying he has not spoken with Starmer since Friday.
However, he noted that they had a "frank conversation" the previous day about the serious challenges currently facing the prime minister and his team.
UK political crisis
The government crisis in the country intensified after a heavy defeat for Labor in local elections.
Back in May, six senior ministers, including Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, coordinated a joint position and planned to demand Starmer's resignation. At the time, the prime minister refused to step down, saying he would continue leading the country.
The party revolt later escalated into actual resignations. Health Secretary Wes Streeting was the first to leave the Cabinet, resigning and saying he had lost confidence in Starmer, calling continued service in government without principle.
By June, the situation in the government had become critical. According to global media reports, after a series of discussions with Cabinet members, donors, and trade unions, Keir Starmer is expected to announce his resignation on Monday and to present a timeline for his resignation.
