Spanish Foreign Minister: Too early to discuss deployment of troops in Ukraine

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said it was too early to discuss sending troops to Ukraine. He emphasized the need to achieve peace, Le Monde reports.
Spain stated that it is too early to discuss the deployment of its troops to Ukraine. On Monday, Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares emphasized that, given the current conflict, "the goal of diplomacy should be to achieve peace."
He added that once peace is achieved, it will be necessary to determine what conditions are required, including the possible deployment of forces.
Albares highlighted the importance of understanding the mission of any military forces, who would deploy them, under what flag, and with what mandate, after a meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom expressed its readiness to send soldiers to Ukraine as peacekeeping forces if necessary, to enhance security.
Germany also considers the issue of sending troops premature, pointing out that it is necessary to wait until peace is established and the situation is clarified.
It is worth noting that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared the country’s readiness to send its troops to Ukraine to ensure the implementation of a peace agreement.
Earlier, the US Secretary of Defense ruled out the involvement of American forces in peacekeeping missions, but recently, US Vice President Jay D. Vance suggested that it might become a reality. At the same time, Washington emphasizes the need for European peacekeepers.
According to Welt, Europe may send up to 25,000 peacekeepers to Ukraine. On February 15, The Associated Press reported that European countries are actively working on a plan for deploying peacekeeping forces on Ukrainian territory.
