The Spanish government has approved an agreement allowing for the conclusion of a contract for the production and supply of Lanza LTR-25 long-range tactical radar to Ukraine, as well as its logistical support.

The agreement provides for the manufacture and supply of the Lanza LTR-25 radar produced by Indra, along with its logistical support, which should contribute to the allies' efforts to support Ukraine by strengthening its defense capabilities in the field of air defense.

The estimated cost of the agreement is €37 million. It will be valid from the date of its conclusion until December 31, 2026, with no possibility of extension.

The Lanza LTR-25 is a mobile three-coordinate radar station capable of operating in challenging electronic warfare conditions. The main advantage of the system is its ability to detect and track not only aircraft but also small objects with low reflectivity, such as drones and cruise missiles.

The station is easily transported by C-130 aircraft or trucks, allowing it to quickly change positions and avoid retaliatory strikes.

The air target detection range for this installation is over 450 km, and the combination of the radar with NATO's overall air defense system allows the coordinates of targets to be transmitted to air defense units.

Spain's aid to Ukraine

Spain has announced €615 million in aid to Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase weapons and finance defense systems.

Spain also announced an allocation of €1 billion for the purchase of military equipment in the US for further transfer to Ukraine.

These funds will supplement the aid package for Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In addition, the new aid package should strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
