Seoul may send its military and intelligence personnel to Ukraine. This would be a response to the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia, reports Newsweek.

In particular, the South Korean government is reviewing a plan to send an appropriate number of personnel, including intelligence officers (experts on North Korea) and experts in enemy tactics to Ukraine. This move is a response to recent information that North Korea has sent troops to Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine.

Citing a South Korean intelligence representative, local media clarified that South Korean personnel in Ukraine will interrogate and provide translation services if the Ukrainian Armed Forces capture North Korean soldiers. Additionally, they will provide Kyiv with information on North Korean military tactics, doctrine, and operations.

Meanwhile, Newsweek reminded that on Monday, the South Korean Ministry of Defense stated it would consider measures with an open attitude regarding potential supplies of lethal weapons to Ukraine. Previously, during the Russo-Ukrainian war, Seoul had provided humanitarian assistance to Kyiv.

Newsweek also noted that on Friday, South Korean intelligence reported that North Korea has decided to send 12,000 special forces soldiers to Russia, with 1,500 already on Russian territory.

The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that North Korea intends to prepare 10,000 soldiers from various branches of the military to participate in combat operations alongside Russia. He also warned that North Korea's involvement could be the first step toward a world war.

Yesterday, sources from RBC-Ukraine in the special services reported that 18 North Korean fighters who attempted to flee from positions in the Kursk region were detained by Russian forces in the Komarichsky district of the Bryansk region. They may now be used in assault actions against the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
