Among the countries of the Coalition of the Willing, some are ready to have a presence in Ukraine after a ceasefire is established. This could include not only military support, but also equipment, satellite communications, or financial assistance, according to Ihor Zhovkva, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"We cannot disclose details to the press, but there is a specific number of countries saying that after peace is established, they are ready to deploy certain types of their presence," Zhovkva said.

He clarified that not all countries can provide troops, but they can provide equipment, satellite communications, or financial support.

"Those who, for some reason, do not wish to be present as a contingent can provide other types of assistance," he added, emphasizing the concept of Boots and Flags on the Ground.

Coalition of the Willing and security guarantees

Earlier, Kyiv discussed the presence of an international contingent in Ukraine with military officials from France and the UK.

The next Coalition of the Willing meeting at the leaders’ level is scheduled for January in France. Before that, on January 3, national security advisors from coalition countries will meet in Kyiv to discuss the next steps.

It is expected that in January, Ukraine’s allies will hold a meeting to finalize security guarantees after the ceasefire. The talks will also consider the possibility of deploying foreign troops on Ukrainian territory.

According to sources at the Élysée Palace, the initiative is being carried out within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing, a group of states ready to take on specific commitments for Ukraine’s security after the active phase of the war ends.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also noted that the US is, for the first time, ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees that could include the presence of American troops on its territory.
