Russian overnight attacks kill children in Ukraine's Sumy, woman in Mykolaiv

Overnight, Russian strikes hit residential neighborhoods in Sumy and Mykolaiv. The dead include children and an elderly woman, according to Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov and Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych.
What happened in Sumy
Overnight, Russian forces struck Sumy with guided aerial bombs. Two children and an elderly woman were killed.
The girls were 5 and 10 years old. Their bodies were recovered from the rubble of their home after the strike.
Residential buildings, as well as non-residential structures, were damaged and destroyed in the city.
Casualties
Four more residents of Sumy sought medical assistance. They were diagnosed with acute stress reactions.
According to updated information, six guided aerial bombs hit the city's civilian infrastructure. Another two guided aerial bombs were shot down by air defense forces before reaching populated areas.
Damage assessments and efforts to deal with the aftermath of the attack are ongoing in the city.
Attack on Mykolaiv
The same night, Russian forces attacked a residential area of Mykolaiv.
An 89-year-old woman was killed in the strike. Seven more people were injured.
"The Russians killed an 89-year-old woman. My condolences," the mayor wrote.
According to him, both private homes and apartment buildings sustained significant damage.

Russian forces continue to strike civilian facilities in different regions of Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian forces destroyed a Nova Poshta (Ukraine's largest private postal and parcel delivery company) branch, destroying infrastructure used by thousands of people every day.
Earlier, Russian forces attacked a port in the Mykolaiv region with Shahed drones, damaging the region's port infrastructure.
