Emmanuel Macron on security guarantees: Сoalition of Willing to define countries' contributions in January

French President Emmanuel Macron said progress had been made on security guarantees for Ukraine, adding that the contribution of each country in the Сoalition of the Willing would be determined in January, according to Macron’s post on X.
Emmanuel Macron said that on the evening of December 28, he held an online call together with several European leaders, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump. According to his post, this was followed by a one-on-one conversation with Zelenskyy.
Macron added that progress had been made on security guarantees and that at the beginning of next month, the contribution of each country participating in the so-called "Coalition of the Willing" would be determined.
"We are making progress on the security guarantees that will be central to building a just and lasting peace. We will bring together the countries of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris in early January to finalize each country’s concrete contributions," Macron stated.
Trump–Zelenskyy meeting and security guarantees for Ukraine
On Sunday, December 28, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, held talks in Florida focused on a peace plan.
After the meeting, both leaders addressed the media. Zelenskyy said the peace plan was 90% agreed, while US security guarantees were finalized in full.
"The 20-point plan is 90% agreed; US security guarantees are 100%; US and European guarantees are 90%; the military component is 100%; and the prosperity plan is being finalized," Zelenskyy said at the press conference.
Ahead of the talks, CNN reported, citing sources, that Trump was prepared to approve security guarantees for Ukraine through the US Congress.
Separately, media reports in recent days have said that Ukraine’s allies are expected to meet in January to finalize security guarantees for Ukraine. The discussions are expected to include the potential deployment of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory.
