Slovakia ready to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine - MFA

Slovakia is ready to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine within the framework of a new European security architecture, states Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha following talks in Košice with his Slovak counterpart, Juraj Blanár.
According to Sybiha, defense cooperation was one of the key topics of the talks, including the use of the SAFE mechanism to strengthen Ukraine, as well as the further development of the PURL initiative.
"The Slovak side is ready to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine as part of the new security architecture in Europe. I stressed the critical need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia in order to advance peace," the Foreign Minister said.
The ministers also discussed in detail the 19th package of sanctions against Russia, which is expected to be adopted soon.
"I also stressed the importance of fully utilizing frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. I highlighted our successful cooperation in protecting national minorities. This sets an example for the entire region and demonstrates that where there is genuine will on both sides, there are no problems in this area," Sybiha added.
Security Guarantees for Ukraine
In September, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the countries of the Coalition of the Willing had completed preparations for security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to him, 26 countries are already ready to send their soldiers to Ukraine or support such a mission.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the possible deployment of a foreign contingent to Ukraine, noted that this would involve thousands of soldiers.
Zelenskyy also reported that the basic document on security guarantees for Ukraine is practically ready, with details being worked out with all partners.
First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhii Kyslytsya said that Ukraine is making progress in negotiations to formalize legally binding security guarantees with the US and European allies.
Recently, Finnish President Alexander Stubb assured that the military component of security guarantees for Ukraine is practically ready, with partners now working on the political component.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated that the war between Russia and Ukraine will eventually end through negotiations, but Ukraine will have protection from partners after any ceasefire agreement.
In addition, according to Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump will also provide Ukraine with security guarantees after the war ends.
