Ukraine works every week to strengthen the protection of its airspace. And that’s why it is only fair that the Russian skies are also equally unsettled today, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his evening address.

According to him, work continues with international partners not only on the supply of new air defense systems and missiles, but also on localizing their production in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy emphasized that this is a strategic decision important not only for Ukraine but for all of Europe, as the protection of Ukrainian airspace is part of the future security architecture of the continent.

"And overall, for security in Europe, not just for our country, the protection of Ukraine’s skies is one of the foundations of the future security architecture. It is absolutely fair that the Russian skies—the skies of the aggressor—are also equally unsettled today,” he said.

Drone attacks on Russia

In recent days, there has been an increase in strike drone attacks across various regions of Russia. Notably, during the night of May 6, combat UAVs targeted Moscow, the Moscow region, and four other regions of the country. Moscow airports declared the Carpet plan in response.

On the same day, drones flying toward the Russian capital were detected.

Over the past weekend, UAVs struck the Strela plant in the Bryansk region. The facility manufactures products for the defense industry.

Today, it was reported that long-range drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) hit two defense industry plants deep inside Russian territory overnight — Bazalt and Splav.
