After the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, two separate statements were published - one regarding agreements between Ukraine and the US and another between the US and Russia, says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"We agreed on silence at sea and free navigation. We are grateful to the American side for this result and for separately discussing infrastructure issues," Zelenskyy stated.

One of the key points of the negotiations was an agreement on the prohibition of strikes on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine and Russia. The President noted that Kyiv provided the US with a list of strategic infrastructure objects that require special protection.

"The American side believes that silence in the sky regarding energy also applies to other civilian infrastructure. It is already a good result if there will be no strikes on energy - that is already significant," the head of state emphasized.

Differences in US and Ukraine's statements

According to him, the statements of Ukraine and the US regarding the negotiations differ in the fifth point. In particular, the Russian side raised the issue of US assistance in transporting their agricultural sector products and port logistics. However, Ukraine did not agree to these terms.

"We believe this weakens our position and eases sanctions, in our opinion. We do not yet know the details of this point, and we were not present at the meeting (between the US and Russia - ed.)," the President said.

He noted that during the negotiations in Riyadh, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov contacted him to discuss this issue.

"I said that this is not a discussion of an unconditional ceasefire, not even a partial one, regarding the removal of certain obstacles for the Russians related to agricultural products. In our statement, the fifth point is about the US helping us with the return of children, prisoners of war, and civilians, while the Russians will have what they agreed upon with them," Zelenskyy said.

When ceasefire takes effect

Zelenskyy questioned how the adopted decisions would be implemented and is awaiting details on this matter from Minister Rustem Umerov after his return from Saudi Arabia.

"The Minister of Defense asked the American side when this could take effect, and they believe that after the American side officially issues a statement, the implementation of the decisions in this document can begin. However, there is no trust in the Russians, but I believe that we will be constructive, and if this is the case, then we will do our job," Zelenskyy emphasized.

Who monitors ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia

The President believes that the US will not be able to immediately provide full monitoring of compliance with the ceasefire. In his opinion, the technology of Ukraine, the United States, and European partners should be sufficient to monitor the ceasefire.

"But there are still some technical issues. The Americans are at a high technical level and can see a lot at sea and in the sky. After all, when a missile is launched, we know about it, and when ballistic missiles are being prepared, American satellites and the Americans see and know this," he emphasized.

Negotiation process regarding war end

This month, the US began a series of negotiations with Ukraine and Russia regarding a ceasefire. During the negotiations, the US proposed a 30-day cessation of hostilities between Ukraine and Russia.

Ukraine immediately agreed to such a proposal, but the Kremlin did not give a direct answer. Moreover, the Russians put forward several additional conditions, including halting mobilization and stopping the supply of Western weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Last weekend in Riyadh, another round of negotiations took place between the US and the delegations of Ukraine and Russia regarding the end of the war.

On Monday, the US held negotiations with the Russian delegation, which lasted about 12 hours. After these negotiations, it became known that additional discussions were held with the Ukrainian side.

Today, Ukraine and the United States published a joint statement on what was agreed upon in Saudi Arabia.
