In Sumy, due to the overnight enemy drone attack on May 6, critical infrastructure objects are being switched to backup power, according to the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration (RMA), Oleksiy Drozdenko.

"In connection with the massive Shahed attack on the city, critical infrastructure objects are being switched to backup power," his statement said.

According to the official, water supply and hospitals will be fully provided with backup power.

Additionally, resilience points are being deployed in Sumy.

Russia struck Sumy and the region at night

Earlier, it was reported that on the night of May 6, the Russian army again launched an air attack on Ukrainian territory using Shahed kamikaze drones.

After midnight, explosions were heard in Sumy. Following this, there was a partial loss of electricity and water supply in some areas of the city. Additionally, there were reports of further explosions in the city area due to the attack of enemy drones.

It was also reported about problems with power supply in some settlements of the Sumy region, in particular in Lebedyn, Bilotserkivka, and Okhtyrka.

Later, the Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that the enemy had carried out airstrikes on energy facilities in the region overnight. The statement also mentioned that restoration work is underway on-site.
