The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) destroyed a Russian light aircraft that the aggressor country was using to shoot down Ukrainian long-range drones.
The enemy targets were destroyed in temporarily occupied territories by special forces from the SBU’s A Special Operations Center.
"This time, our specialists neutralized two light aircraft that the occupiers had stationed at airfields and were using to shoot down Ukrainian long-range drones," the post read.
The SBU emphasized that this is part of "clearing the way" for Ukrainian long-range drones, which will carry out strikes in the Russian rear.
Drone strikes on Russia
Ukrainian drones have been continuously attacking the territory of the aggressor country. Targets have included oil refineries, military-industrial facilities, railways, and other critical infrastructure.
In particular, unknown drones attacked Russia’s Rostov region on the night of Tuesday, October 21. In Bataysk and Rostov-on-Don, debris from downed drones damaged residential buildings and vehicles. Local residents reported about a dozen powerful explosions.
Earlier, on the night of October 19, drones struck a gas processing plant in the Orenburg region. A large fire broke out at the facility, and the intake of raw gas from the Karachaganak field was halted as a result of the attack. On Monday, October 20, another fire broke out at the plant in Orenburg.
Additionally, on the night of October 18, kamikaze drones attacked the Ulyanovsk region, disabling the 500 kV Veshkayma substation.
