Unidentified drones attacked Russia’s Rostov region. In Bataysk and Rostov-on-Don, debris from downed drones damaged residential buildings and vehicles, according to Russian social media and Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slusary.

Locals reported hearing about a dozen powerful explosions in the city, followed by visible smoke in one of the districts.

Debris from one of the drones fell near a residential building, damaging several market stalls and cars, the Telegram channel SHOT reported.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, 10 drones were shot down over the region in the past hour.

Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slusary reported that in Bataysk, a wall of a high-rise building on the upper floors on Zapadnoye Highway was partially destroyed.

“Fortunately, no one was injured. Twenty people were evacuated from the building, and arrangements are being made for temporary accommodation,” he wrote.

Slusary also reported drone debris falling into the yards of apartment buildings on Oktyabrskaya Street. Windows were damaged in the buildings, but no one was hurt.

Eyewitnesses also shared footage showing the destruction after the drone attack.

According to residents, the building’s exterior was damaged, dozens of windows on the upper floors were shattered, and some window frames fell out.

Buildings damaged in Rostov

A series of explosions also shook Rostov-on-Don, after which eyewitnesses reported a column of smoke in the eastern part of the city.

In the city, a resident was injured by shrapnel when two private houses in the Proletarsky District were hit by falling drones.

“The ambulance team that arrived at the scene is taking him to the hospital. Medical assistance was also provided on site to a minor,” Governor Slusary reported.

In the village of Nedvigovka in the Myasnikovsky District, a drone strike damaged a power line. The village lost electricity, and emergency services were dispatched.

Additionally, residents of the Millerovsky and Neklinovsky districts reported hearing drones flying overhead and explosions. Preliminary reports indicate that several more drones were shot down.

Drone strikes on Russia

Unidentified drones regularly attack Russian territory, targeting oil refineries, military-industrial facilities, railways, and other critical infrastructure.

On the night of October 19, drones struck a gas processing plant in the Orenburg region. A large-scale fire broke out at the facility, and the intake of raw gas from the Karachaganak field was halted.

On Monday, October 20, another fire broke out at the Orenburg plant.

Earlier, on the night of October 18, drones attacked the Ulyanovsk region, disabling the 500 kV Veshkayma substation.
