Security guarantees must be part of Ukraine talks, says Rubio

Security guarantees for Ukraine and territorial concessions should be part of peace talks with Russia, said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to The Guardian.
Rubio stated that security guarantees and territorial concessions must be part of negotiations on Ukraine.
He added that he hopes for quick progress in ending the war.
"To achieve peace, I think we all recognize that there'll have to be some conversation about security guarantees. There'll have to be some conversation about ... territorial disputes and claims, and what they're fighting over," the US Secretary of State said.
Regarding the prospects for a ceasefire, Rubio said: "We'll see what's possible tomorrow.. Let's see how the talks go. And we're hopeful.."
Security guarantees for Ukraine
According to French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, during the meeting in Alaska on August 15, US President Donald Trump will demand that Russian President Vladimir Putin cease fire and will promise security guarantees to Ukraine together with other partners.
Before that, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Trump believes NATO should not be part of security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to media reports, Trump is ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, but not within NATO.
