Scholz makes statement on arms supplies to Israel
Germany will continue to provide weapons to Israel, a decision made by the German government, stated German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to Tagesschau.
"We have supplied and will continue to supply weapons. We have made a decision in the government that will also ensure further deliveries in the near future," Scholz said.
Recently, the coalition of CDU/CSU accused the German government of being unable to support Israel.
As Merz stated, a large number of companies submitted written documents indicating that applications for licenses had been filed but had not been reviewed by the federal government for months.
Escalation in the Middle East
Over the past month, the Israeli army has eliminated several leaders of Islamic groups supported by Iran. On July 31, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in Tehran.
On September 27, the Israeli Air Force struck a suburb of Beirut, killing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. In response, Iran launched 180 missiles at Israel, but without significant losses.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has promised to respond, including potential strikes on Iranian oil and nuclear facilities.
Biden is attempting to dissuade Israel from implementing such plans to avoid escalating the situation.
