Special forces of the Special Operations Center Alpha of the Security Service of Ukraine in 2025 reduced the number of Russian Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun systems by half with long-range strikes.
RBC reports this with reference to the SBU.
It is noted that the Pantsir is one of Russia’s modern and key air defense systems. The cost of one system ranges from $15 million to $20 million.
These missile and gun systems are considered the most effective in countering Ukrainian long-range drones.
The SBU emphasized that the systematic destruction of Pantsir systems therefore serves a strategic purpose — breaching the enemy’s air defenses and creating corridors to strike targets deep in its rear.
This enables Ukraine's Defense Forces to effectively target military bases, warehouses, airfields and other facilities of the occupiers.
The total value of all Russian air defense systems destroyed by the SBU’s Alpha unit in 2025 is estimated at approximately $4 billion.

Alpha operations
It is worth recalling that recently long-range drones of the Special Operations Center Alpha of the Security Service of Ukraine struck the Ukhta oil refinery located in the Komi Republic, 1,750 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Alpha drones also hit a Russian plant that manufactures fuel components for Kh-55 and Kh-101 missiles.
In addition, the Special Operations Center Alpha of the SBU became the leader among all Defense Forces units in the number of enemy fixed-wing drones destroyed in 2025.
