Satellite shows Russia shielding warplanes at 14 airfields

Russian forces are working to shield their aircraft from Ukrainian strikes by constructing protective shelters — now spotted at 14 airbases, according to OSINT analyst Def Mon, who shared the findings on X.
According to the analyst, Russia began actively building aircraft shelters last fall. So far, 14 locations have been identified where such shelters are either already built or under construction.

Satellite images reveal construction at several airfields, including Kirovske in occupied Crimea, as well as sites in Sevastopol, Hvardiiske, and Saky.
In Russia, similar construction is underway at airfields in Yeysk, Krymsk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the Khanskaya base in Adygea, as well as in Millerovo, Akhtubinsk, Borisoglebsk, Kursk, and Lipetsk, and at the strategic aviation base in Engels.

Russian aircraft losses
A week ago, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) carried out a historic operation named Spiderweb. It was in preparation for over a year and targeted four airfields inside Russia.
As part of the operation, drones struck 41 strategic aircraft, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and Tu-160 planes. This represents roughly one-third of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers.
On June 7, Ukraine’s Air Force also shot down a Russian Su-35 fighter jet in the Kursk region.
Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine has destroyed 414 Russian aircraft. The occupiers have also lost 337 helicopters of various types.
