Rutte confirms that NATO starts coordinating military aid to Ukraine
The North Atlantic Alliance is already coordinating military aid to Ukraine from partner countries. The new NATO command in Wiesbaden has begun its operations, states NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, according to Reuters.
"The NATO command in Wiesbaden for security assistance and training for Ukraine is now up and running," said Stoltenberg.
Reuters clarifies that since 2022, the coordination of Western weapon supplies to Ukraine has been handled by the EUCOM supply coordination center, led by the United States. The coordination of supplies was also discussed in the Ramstein format.
Now, as the news agency notes, the Ramstein format will remain a "political forum," while NATO's command in Wiesbaden for providing security assistance and training for Ukraine (NSATU) will take on the implementation of decisions made during Ramstein meetings.
Coordination of military aid to Ukraine
The task of coordinating military aid to Ukraine was transferred to NATO back in the summer. This decision was made due to the potential victory of Donald Trump in the presidential elections, which might reduce support for Ukraine.
Just yesterday, December 17, Reuters reported that NATO had already begun coordinating supplies, although no official information had been released at that time.
