Russian forces this afternoon, August 27, attacked Chernihiv with a Shahed-type strike drone, causing a fire at an industrial facility in the city, according to Chernihiv Mayor Dmytro Bryzhynskyi.

"A Shahed fell and exploded within the city limits. Information on the damage is being clarified," Bryzhynskyi said.

According to him, the drone strike caused a fire at one of the city’s enterprises. He added that another explosion was later heard, including one in a private residential area. Preliminary reports say two women were injured.

Russian attacks on Ukraine on August 27

During the night of August 27, Russian forces carried out a series of strikes against Ukraine. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian army launched 95 drones and decoy UAVs. Most of the hostile targets were destroyed by Ukraine’s defense forces.

Around 1:00 a.m., Russian troops struck Sumy with Shahed drones, causing power outages in the city.

It was later reported that the strike damaged local infrastructure, leading to partial blackouts, suspension of public electric transport, and disruptions to the water supply.

Russian forces also attacked the Poltava region, hitting an energy sector enterprise. The strike caused blackouts affecting both residential and industrial consumers.
