Russia launches massive attack on Ukraine's Poltava region, damages energy facility

Last night, on August 27, Russian forces carried out a massive strike on the Poltava region. An energy sector facility was damaged in the attack, and power outages were reported, according to the Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Kohut.
According to him, the enemy launched a large-scale attack on the Poltava region, with debris and direct hits recorded in the Poltava district.
As a result, an energy facility was damaged: the administrative building, vehicles, and equipment sustained destruction, while fires broke out on the premises.
The strike also caused power outages for both residential and commercial consumers.
By morning, the fires had been contained and the electricity supply fully restored. No casualties were reported.
Kohut thanked Ukraine’s air defense forces for downing most of the enemy targets, as well as rescuers and energy workers for their swift response.
Attacks on the Poltava region
On the night of August 19, Russian forces also carried out a massive strike on oil refining and gas transport facilities in the Poltava region. The strikes and falling debris caused widespread power disruptions.
In particular, more than 1,400 households and 119 businesses in the Lubny district were left without electricity.
Rescuers worked for two days to extinguish fires at one of the facilities that broke out as a result of the Russian attack.
