Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRG) have begun wearing Ukrainian Armed Forces uniforms to break into Ukrainian positions. However, Ukrainian soldiers are identifying and eliminating them, according to Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Ataman Sirko.

"The enemy's SRGs, as part of the 'masquerade' program, are changing into Ukrainian uniforms and attempting to penetrate our combat formations. The Defense Forces detect and eliminate the majority of these groups," Fedorenko said.

He emphasized that Ukrainian special services operate efficiently and effectively. While their work is not visible to the general public, it significantly impacts defense capability.

"Sometimes the enemy believes they are acting in the interests of the Russian forces, but in reality, they are working in the interests of the Defense Forces. They just don’t know it yet," he added.

Fedorenko also reported that in the Kharkiv region, within his brigade’s area of responsibility, Russian forces are deploying extraordinary resources in the Kupiansk direction, allowing the enemy to advance into Kruhliakivka. In the past two and a half weeks, the enemy has used 100 units of armored and lightly armored vehicles in this operation, 90 of which were destroyed.

"They are tasked with reaching the left bank Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi by the New Year, continuing the mission they had until November 1. However, in my opinion, the enemy will not succeed," Fedorenko commented.

The battalion commander also mentioned that the Defense Forces carried out important operations near Hlyboke, allowing them to oust Russian forces from their prepared positions and solidify them.

The commander added that Russian forces frequently target the medical evacuation points for Ukrainian defenders.

On December 17, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively engaged in combat operations on a frontline stretching over 1,170 kilometers.

He noted that the most difficult situation currently lies in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions. Meanwhile, the situation remains tense but under control in southern Ukraine.

Syrskyi also mentioned that seven Ukrainian regions must intensify efforts to strengthen fortifications.
