Ukraine's army chief names most difficult frontline areas and current tasks
As of December 17, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively engaged in combat operations on a frontline stretching over 1,170 kilometers. The situation remains difficult, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reports.
According to him, the main efforts of the Ukrainian military are focused on holding positions. The military's task is also to deplete Russian troops and create conditions for the further liberation of the occupied territories.
The situation is most difficult in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors.
“Russia has significantly increased the intensity of offensive actions in the Kramatorsk, Toretsk, and Vremivaka directions, where it is trying to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops, but is not successful,” said Syryskyi.
The situation is also tense in the south of Ukraine, but the situation is under control. Russia is conducting low-intensity offensives in the Orikhiv and Prydniprovskyi sectors.
Pokrovsk sector
Earlier, the media reported that the Russian army may be preparing an offensive on Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This operation could be the culmination of the Russian offensive in this area.
Syrskyi also said that for several months now, the Pokrovsk direction has been one of the most difficult in the context of the confrontation with the Russian occupiers. Russian losses there are consistently high.
