For several months, the Pokrovsk direction has remained one of the most challenging in the context of the confrontation with Russian forces. Russian losses there have been consistently high, states the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"We are calculating and preparing for all possible scenarios of the enemy's further actions. I am grateful to the military personnel for their effective combat work," Syrskyi wrote.

According to Syrskyi, Russian losses in the Pokrovsk direction remain consistently high, especially in terms of personnel. In particular, in December, the enemy has been losing around 400 people per day, confirmed as killed or wounded, on average.

It was previously reported that Russian troops are located about 11 kilometers from the city, which has prompted local authorities to urge residents to evacuate. According to the military, over 70,000 Russian soldiers are concentrated in this direction. President Zelenskyy had earlier announced additional strengthening of defenses in this area.

At the same time, the media suggests that Russian forces are preparing to launch an offensive on Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This operation could be the culmination of the Russian offensive in this direction.

Earlier, Syrskyi noted that fierce battles continue in the Pokrovsk direction. The Russian forces have an advantage in personnel and are using unconventional tactics.
