Ukrainian army Chief on intense fighting in Pokrovsk direction: Russia deploys all forces
Fierce fighting continues in the Pokrovsk direction. The enemy overpowers there, stated Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"We have to make unconventional decisions to strengthen the resilience of our defense and to eliminate the occupiers more effectively. The fighting is extremely intense. Russian occupiers are deploying all available forces in an attempt to breach our defenses," Syrskyi stated.
He emphasized that Ukrainian soldiers are demonstrating extraordinary resilience and inflicting significant losses on the enemy near Pokrovsk. Syrskyi noted that under these conditions, the primary task is to reinforce the defense, in particular, to provide units with sufficient ammunition and its constant supply.
"I listened to information about the existing problems and gave appropriate instructions. I am grateful to the soldiers for their courage and steadfastness in the fight against the enemy," the Commander-in-Chief underlined.
The situation near Pokrovsk
The Pokrovsk direction remains one of the hottest zones on the front. Russian forces are positioned approximately 11 kilometers from the city, prompting local authorities to urge residents to evacuate.
Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia group, reported that over 70,000 Russian troops are concentrated in this area. President Zelenskyy previously announced additional reinforcements to bolster defenses in this area.
Meanwhile, media reports suggest that Russian forces may be preparing to launch an offensive on Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This operation may be the culmination of the Russian offensive in this area.
