In Dnipro, a Russian overnight attack destroyed a warehouse of the Med-Service pharmacy network, which stored medicines for millions of people across Ukraine. The warehouse continues to burn, reports Andriy Zdesenko, owner of the Biosphere Corporation.
"Today, on St. Nicholas Day, children who behaved well all year receive gifts. Unfortunately, businessmen who contribute heavily to building the economy, developing the pharmaceutical sector, paying taxes, and creating jobs are hit by Shahed drones targeting their facilities," the statement said.
Zdesenko reported that the fire broke out at the central Med-Service warehouse, owned by his friend Oleh Tokarev, following the drone strikes. The facility stored medicines from roughly a hundred suppliers, serving 500 pharmacies and millions of consumers across Ukraine. Built in 2023, the warehouse was equipped with modern technology and fully complied with all pharmaceutical standards and regulations.
"Despite the war, Med-Service continued investing in the Ukrainian economy. Oleh has been developing Med-Service for 30 years, the same length of time I have led Biosphere. During the war, the chain lost 70 pharmacies. This is another blow,” Zdesenko wrote.
At the time of his post, the warehouse was still burning. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Zdesenko emphasized that Biosphere will assist in managing the aftermath and supporting the staff. He also urged the public to support the business by purchasing medicines or other products.
"From my experience, I know how important support is after such a loss. Together with Biosphere, we will provide everything necessary to help the company recover from the strike and support its team. Everyone can help Med-Service — not necessarily by buying medicines, but for example, vitamins or hygiene products. This support is crucial right now," he added.
Russian attack on Ukraine
On the night of November 6, Russia launched another large-scale strike on Ukraine, deploying more than 600 drones along with missiles of various types.
Dnipro was among the cities hit. The city mayor, Borys Filatov, and the State Emergency Service reported on social media that the attack caused a fire at a warehouse storing medicines and tires.
The enemy also targeted the city of Fastiv in the Kyiv region overnight, completely destroying the railway station.
