Russian missiles over NATO countries must be shot down - Lithuanian Foreign Minister
Violations of NATO countries' airspace cannot be tolerated. Therefore, Russian missiles must be shot down, according to the Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.
"One time is a mistake. But if we allow that to happen, it sounds like an invitation. So we have to change our position, we have to change our posture and send a very clear message that if it happens again, their missiles and drones, they will be taken down," the minister said.
He emphasized that the violation of Polish airspace by Russian missiles "is not the first time it's happened."
"There has been a number of violations of airspace in Romania, and this is also not the first time that Polish airspace was violated," he reminded.
Russian missiles flying into Polish territory
Russian missiles have repeatedly flown into Polish territory during mass attacks on Ukraine. The country's authorities respond to these events cautiously and by raising aircraft into the airspace.
For instance, the Polish command emphasized that they knew that the Russian missile, which flew over the Lublin region on the morning of March 24, would return to Ukraine.
Also, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreyev. The reason for this was the violation of Polish airspace by a Russian missile.
As noted by the Polish Defense Minister, Mieczysław Bieniek, Poland would shoot down a Russian missile if it flew further into the country.
