Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine, focusing their main strike on Kyiv. High-rise buildings and cars were on fire in the capital, and there were casualties and injuries.
RBC-Ukraine reports on the consequences of the Russian strike on Kyiv on the night of January 9.
In particular, the consequences of tonight's Russian attack are being recorded in the Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, Pecherskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts.
A total of 19 high-rise buildings were damaged in the city. The Qatari embassy was also hit. A kindergarten, a tram depot, a locomotive, cars, a supermarket, and a gas station were damaged.
At least 4 people were killed, and 25 were injured as a result of the Russian strike on Kyiv.
RBC-Ukraine visited the sites of the strikes and debris falls. The Dniprovskyi district suffered the most casualties. 2 people were found killed in a residential complex where a fire broke out.

In the Darnytskyi district, which was also visited by RBC-Ukraine reporters, Russia treacherously struck a high-rise building again at the moment when rescuers and medics were working at the site.

As a result, a 56-year-old ambulance worker who had arrived to help the victims was killed.
5 State Emergency Service of Ukraine rescuers, 4 medical workers, and a police officer were also wounded.
In addition, at another location, a Shahed drone fell directly onto the roof of a residential building, causing the ceiling to collapse.
Currently, there are interruptions in the heat and water supply in Kyiv. The left bank is experiencing emergency power outages, and there is also no water supply. Residents of the Pecherskyi district are also without water.
Russia's attack on Ukraine with Oreshnik
On the night of January 9, Russian troops launched 242 drones and 36 missiles at Ukraine, including a medium-range ballistic missile (Oreshnik).
Russia struck Kyiv and the surrounding region with ballistic missiles and drones. In particular, 5 people were injured in residential areas in the Brovary district as a result of drone strikes. A family with a 5-year-old child was rescued from the rubble.
Russian Oreshnik attacked the Lviv region, causing damage to critical infrastructure. There were no casualties.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has already cynically reported on the so-called successful attack by Oreshnik and is trying to justify the strike as a so-called response to Ukraine's fictitious attack on the residence of dictator Vladimir Putin in Valdai.
In response, Kyiv is urgently convening the UN Security Council and a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russian attack occurred precisely when there was a significant cold snap. It is directed against civilians.
