Russia bombards Ukraine with drones, missiles, and Oreshnik: Air defense's work reported

On the night of January 9, Russia launched a combined strike on critical infrastructure in Ukraine with strike drones, as well as sea- and land-based missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
In total, the Ukrainian Air Force's radio-technical troops detected and tracked 278 Russian air attack units, 36 missiles, and 242 drones of various types. The main target of the strike was the Kyiv region.
Russia struck Ukraine with:
- 242 Shahed and Gerbera strike drones and other types of drones from the directions of Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, Chauda, Hvardiiske in the Crimea, and Donetsk;
- 13 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles;
- 22 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea;
- 1 medium-range ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar test site in the Astrakhan region of Russia.
Russian attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or suppressed 244 Russian attack units:
- 226 drones;
- 8 ballistic missiles Iskander-M/S-400;
- 10 cruise missiles Kalibr.
At the same time, 18 Russian missiles and 16 strike drones were recorded hitting 19 locations.
Russian combined strike on Ukraine on January 9
Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of January 9. There are reports of extensive damage to residential buildings, critical infrastructure, and fires in cars, warehouses, garages, etc.
In Kyiv, dozens of people were injured, and 4 were killed, in addition to damage to buildings and several fires. Among the killed was a medical worker who had arrived to help the victims. His colleagues were also injured.
In addition, a series of loud explosions was heard in Lviv on the night of January 8-9. Reports circulated online that the strikes were carried out by Russian Oreshnik ballistic missiles. The West Air Command confirmed that the missile flew along a ballistic trajectory at a speed of about 13,000 km per hour.
