Russian massive attack on Kyiv: Death toll increases as recovery operations continue

Kyiv continues clearing rubble at the sites hit during last night's massive attack. The death toll from the Russian strike continues to rise.
RBC-Ukraine reports what is currently known about the aftermath of the attack on Kyiv.
As of 3:20 p.m. Kyiv time, rescue and recovery operations are still underway at multiple locations across the city. Around 30 residential buildings have sustained significant damage as a result of the attack, with the most severe situation recorded in the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
Fatalities and injuries
- 13 people have been killed: at around 2:45 p.m., rescuers recovered the body of a deceased man from beneath the rubble in the Podilskyi district.
- 56 people have been injured: all victims are receiving the necessary medical assistance, including seven children.
- Tuesday, July 7, has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv.
Situation by district
Podilskyi district: A direct hit by an enemy missile struck a nine-story residential building. Part of one entrance section was completely destroyed, and rubble-clearing operations are ongoing at the site.

Darnytskyi district: A missile exploded in a courtyard between residential buildings. In addition, a 21-story apartment building was damaged, with partial collapse of floor slabs between several levels.
Obolonskyi district: A strike was recorded on the grounds of a non-residential facility. Fires also broke out in a warehouse and another building.
Holosiivskyi district: According to preliminary information, a non-residential building caught fire.

Damage to high-rise buildings and fires caused by debris
In one high-rise apartment building, a fire broke out in the elevator shaft and on the roof, while the roof of a 19-story building was partially destroyed. Cars parked in the courtyard also caught fire, and debris struck a 25-story residential building.
Falling debris also caused a major fire on the upper floors of a 30-story apartment building.
A large-scale fire was also reported on the grounds of a garage cooperative.
The attack also affected buildings of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv at the VDNH campus. The blast wave shattered windows and doors there.
The studio of Channel 5 was also damaged by the explosions. No injuries were reported, but part of the equipment was destroyed, and workstations were heavily damaged.
Attack on the Kyiv region
As previously reported, the Kyiv region also came under Russian attack overnight, including the town of Vyshneve on the outskirts of Kyiv.
Due to repeated detonations at the strike site, several hundred people had to be evacuated. Six people were killed in the attack on the region.
