Russian losses at front hit record high in last three months: British intelligence
In the last three months, Russia has suffered the heaviest losses at the front. However, in July, the average daily losses for the Russians decreased, according to the British Ministry of Defence on X.
According to intelligence reports, the average daily losses for Russian forces (both killed and wounded) decreased over the past two months, from over 1,262 per day in May to 1,140 in July.
"Despite this reduction, the last three months have been the costliest for Russian forces since February 2022," the update states, according to the Ukrainian General Staff's report.
In the UK, it is believed that the decrease in daily losses likely indicates that Russian troops are strengthening their positions in the Kharkiv region. The ongoing offensive in this area has increased pressure along the front line. However, effective Ukrainian defense and the lack of Russian preparation are reducing Russia's ability to translate any tactical successes into broader operational gains.
"Russia's casualty rate will likely continue to average above 1,000 a day throughout August 2024, as Russia continues offensive operations on a wide front from Kharkiv in the north to Robotyne in southern Ukraine," intelligence reports indicate.
Russia's looses
According to the latest data from the Ukrainian General Staff, Ukrainian defenders eliminated nearly 1,200 Russians in a single day.
Since February 2022, Russia has lost over 580,000 military personnel. According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Russia aims to increase its troop numbers in Ukraine to 690,000 by the end of the year.
The Chief of the British Army believes that, at this rate, Russia would need five years to occupy four frontline regions of Ukraine, with Russian losses amounting to up to 1.8 million soldiers.
