Authorities in Kyiv are continuing to assess the aftermath of the Russian overnight attack. As of this morning, reports of six fatalities have been confirmed, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
As Kateryna Pop, spokesperson for the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported, the number of casualties has reached approximately 65 people.
Among the wounded are 3 children aged 3, 11, and 17. About 40 victims were taken to medical facilities in Kyiv. Another 13 people, including 2 children, received outpatient care.
Medical personnel assisted the remaining victims, as well as one child, directly at the scene.
Restoration of power supply
Two energy sector workers are also among the victims. Following the Russian attack, specialists managed to restore power to 110,000 households.
Currently, emergency crews are continuing restoration work. Power company workers are doing everything possible to restore power as quickly as possible to another 30,000 families in Kyiv who remain without electricity due to damage to the grid.
The most severe outages were reported in the Sviatoshynskyi, Obolonskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of Kyiv.
Rescue workers continue their efforts
State Emergency Service of Ukraine personnel continue to work at the sites that sustained the most damage. Firefighting operations are ongoing at some locations, while at others, work is already underway to clear debris and address the aftermath of the Russian strikes.
During nighttime operations, rescuers managed to free a resident of one of the damaged buildings who had been trapped in his own apartment.
Once firefighting operations are complete, the next phase of recovery efforts will begin.
Emergency services will also be called in to help with the cleanup efforts so that residents can return to homes suitable for habitation as soon as possible.
What Klitschko says
Later, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that 6 people had been killed in Kyiv as a result of the Russian strikes, and 66 others were injured.
On the night of and morning of June 2, Russia launched 73 missiles and 656 attack drones at Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the weapons used included eight Zircon hypersonic missiles, marking a record number of such missiles deployed simultaneously since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Unlike previous massive strikes, when Kyiv remained the primary target, this time several regions came under attack simultaneously, including the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Poltava regions.
