Today, April 14, Russian forces struck the Pechenihy reservoir dam in the Kharkiv region with six guided aerial bombs, said the head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
According to him, Russia struck the Pechenihy reservoir in the Chuhuiv district with six guided aerial bombs. At the same time, Kharkiv was attacked by Molniya and Shahed drones.
"Half an hour ago, the enemy directed six guided aerial bombs at the Pechenihy dam, which is in the Chuhuiv district. This is the largest reservoir in our region, and it is critically important both for the city of Kharkiv and for our entire territory," Syniehubov said.
He added that the enemy also carried out a combined attack on Kharkiv with Shahed and Molniya drones. Air defense forces countered the attack.
"As for destruction and consequences, we will report later in order not to inform the enemy. However, I will say that all our services, emergency medical aid, National Police, and State Emergency Service units are already working on site and eliminating consequences," the head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration stressed.
Syniehubov added that an enemy drone attacked a multi-storey building in Kharkiv. As a result of the attack, one apartment was affected, and a woman was injured.
What is known about the Pechenihy dam
Pechenihy reservoir dam in 2022 was "road of life" – in the summer of that year, people used it to leave temporarily occupied territories of Kharkiv and other regions to the territory controlled by Kyiv. It had already been damaged as a result of a Russian missile strike.
In September 2022, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian forces tried to destroy a dam in Pechenihy but unsuccessfully. Later, two missiles destroyed the upper spillway at the Pechenihy dam.
Strikes on Kharkiv
Russian forces carried out missile strikes on Kharkiv on the night of April 3. As a result of the attack, multi-storey buildings in the city were damaged, and a woman was injured.
