Russian forces have trapped their own 122nd motorized rifle regiment in Kupiansk. According to documents, this territory has already been "captured," but in reality fighting is still ongoing there, the partisan movement Atesh reports.
A partisan agent within the 122nd motorized rifle regiment of the Russian Armed Forces said that a critical situation has developed for this unit in the Kupiansk direction. To report successes to the Kremlin more quickly, the regiment's command declared the alleged "capture" of several positions in the city and its outskirts.
In Russian documents, the "captured" positions are listed as "rear areas." In reality, fierce fighting is ongoing there. This has led to an interesting result: Russian assault groups trapped in urban areas are unable to call for assistance and support.
For example, requests for artillery strikes on Ukrainian Armed Forces machine-gun nests and sniper positions are not approved. The artillery of the 122nd regiment operates based on official headquarters directives and reports stating that the positions are under the control of the Russian army. As a result, fire on these coordinates is prohibited.
This situation directly benefits Ukrainian forces, as the ban leads artillery unit commanders to refuse to open fire, leaving Russian assault troops without cover.
"While the command draws up polished reports, their assault troops are systematically destroyed in fire pockets with no chance of help. The generals' lies have become the most effective weapon against the Russian army itself," Atesh concluded.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces mocked and refuted statements by Valery Gerasimov about the alleged capture of the settlement of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi by Russian troops. This settlement in the Kharkiv region is not only not under the control of Russian forces — it is not even located directly on the line of contact.
Kupiansk is also not under Russian control. As a result of a Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in December, the city was cleared of Russian forces, and several hundred Russian soldiers were encircled and are being destroyed by Ukrainian troops. In particular, Ukrainian defenders established control over the building of the Kupiansk City Council.
According to Ukrainian military officials, all attempts by Russian forces to break through toward Kupiansk consistently end in significant losses for Russia. The city remains under the control of Ukrainian defenders.
