Russian forces increase use of attack drones twentyfold in Sumy region

In the Sumy region, Russian troops have increased their use of attack drones twentyfold. The destruction of housing and civilian infrastructure has also increased fivefold, states Sumy Regional Military Administration head Volodymyr Artyukh.
"In the Sumy region, the enemy has increased the use of drones twentyfold, and the destruction of housing and civilian infrastructure has grown fivefold," Artyukh said.
According to him, four civilians were injured in the past day due to enemy shelling.
"In particular, air-dropped guided bombs (KABs) destroyed residential buildings in the Krasnopillia community, injuring three people. Another person was wounded by an FPV drone strike," the head of the regional military administration added.
Artyukh also noted that enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRG) are entering the region, while Russian forces have intensified assault operations and are attempting to infiltrate border communities on foot without the use of armored vehicles.
Situation in the Sumy region
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukrainian intelligence had detected Russia’s preparations for new offensives.
According to Zelenskyy, the threat is directed at the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Following this, the head of the Council of Reservists of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Ivan Tymochko, shared his assessment of Russian forces and potential threats regarding a possible new offensive in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Additionally, in recent days, Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed that the Russian army had allegedly captured the settlement of Veselivka in the Sumy region.
Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service responded to Russia’s statement and clarified the actual situation on the Sumy region’s border.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue active operations on Russian territory, complicating the enemy’s advance toward the Sumy region.
