Russia may be preparing for a new offensive against Ukraine. There are reports of mobilization in Russia, and we must not forget about reinforcements from North Korea, states Ivan Tymochko, the head of the Ground Forces Reserve Council, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

The expert noted that all borders with Russia and Belarus remain a potential threat to Ukraine. He pointed out that we should not expect the withdrawal of troops from the Kursk region, as combat operations continue there.

According to him, the forces Russia has currently deployed in the Kursk region are insufficient to fully push Ukrainian troops out, and if troop concentration is reduced, it could lead to a new breakthrough on Russian territory. He also emphasized that the situation in the Belgorod border areas is escalating, so Russia is unlikely to withdraw troops from these territories.

"But there is another aspect. The Russians are conducting covert mobilization, they are training people. This is true, and we must potentially consider the threat that Russia may receive additional forces from North Korea. The latest information suggests that an additional 3,000 North Koreans have arrived in Russia. This is how many have been seen, but how many are slipping through is unknown," Tymochko noted.

The expert also pointed out that we should not forget the overall number of Russian personnel, which amounts to 2.2 million. He mentioned that some of the troops are forced to remain on the other borders of Russia with other countries or serve in other units. However, even if these units are less well-trained, they can still be involved in operations.

At the same time, Tymochko recalled that just two months ago, the military commissioner of the Moscow region stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decree on partial mobilization had not been suspended.

"It is still in effect, and they can quickly conduct mobilization, as they have done before. They could send 100-200 thousand people to the front, and the rest could be sent for training. We understand that even 200,000 personnel are enough to carry out a military operation in any direction," the expert concluded.

Russia is preparing a new offensive

Earlier today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that intelligence had detected Russia's preparations for new offensives.

According to him, the threat is aimed at the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
