As of December 12, Siversk in the Donetsk region is not controlled by Russian forces despite claims by Russian propaganda. Fighting for the city is ongoing, Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Zaporozhets, spokesperson for the 11th Army Corps, said on the national telethon.

"Combat operations are ongoing. All commanders at all levels are on site. Both the corps commander and the commander of the troop grouping are involved in providing assistance and managing the response to the critical situation," he said, commenting on the situation near Siversk.

Zaporozhets thus refuted information spread by Russian propagandists about the alleged complete control of Russian forces over the city of Siversk in the Donetsk region.

On December 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again fabricated supposed "successes" of his army in this regard. He publicly claimed the capture of Siversk in the Donetsk region, and as always, his statement had nothing to do with reality.

On December 10, Ukrainian forces reported that although the situation in Siversk was tense, rumors about Russian troops controlling the city were false. Ukrainian troops are fighting for Siversk. Many Russians who tried to infiltrate the city were eliminated.

At the same time, on December 12, Putin and his propagandists suffered another blow: the command of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartiia announced a successful counterattack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces near Kupiansk. More than 200 Russians were blocked in Kupiansk, and the city was almost cleared. During the counteroffensive operations alone, Russian forces lost more than 1,000 soldiers killed.
