Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 24: +1,490 troops and 1,761 drones

Russian forces continued to suffer significant losses in personnel and military equipment as intense fighting persisted across multiple areas of the Ukrainian front, according to Ukraine's MoD.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 24, 2026, are estimated to be:
- Personnel ‒ nearly 1,478,070 (+1,490)
- Tanks ‒ 12,293 (+1)
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,211 (+9)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,575 (+6)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 138,773 (+554)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,368 (+16)
- Artillery systems ‒ 48,519 (+68)
- MLRS ‒ 2,056 (+2)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,586 (+1)
- Aircraft ‒ 440
- Helicopters ‒ 354
- UAVs (operational-tactical level) ‒ 478,327 (+1,761)
- Cruise missiles ‒ 5,049

Frontline situation
Ukrainian forces struck several Russian military targets in occupied Crimea and Russia’s Belgorod region, including a USV launch and storage site, a drone control station, an ST-68 radar and two military supply depots.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces launched local counterattacks and made gains in several areas, including near Kozacha Lopan and central Kostiantynivka. The counterattack near Kozacha Lopan helped halt the Russian offensive, while neither side made advances around Borova.
