A Russian drone struck a police service vehicle in the Izium district of Ukraine's Kharkiv region while officers were working to neutralize another Russian drone that had previously failed to detonate. One police explosives expert was killed, and four other people were injured, Kharkiv regional police reports.

Details of strike

Preliminary reports say that on June 7, police officers were responding to a call to neutralize an explosive device — a Russian unspecified drone that had not detonated — in the Izium district, Kharkiv region.

While explosives technicians were working at the scene, another drone struck the police service vehicle. The explosion killed a police explosives specialist. Three other officers and one civilian were injured.

A crime scene investigation team, district police leadership, and other relevant services were dispatched to the site. All injured individuals are receiving medical assistance.

Investigators are recording the consequences of the strike. Information about the incident has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns war crimes.

Note that the Russian army regularly uses the "double-tap" tactic — a second strike targeting the site of a previous attack.

A similar incident occurred on the night of June 2, when Russia first hit a Naftogaz facility with drones and about an hour later, carried out a follow-up strike with missiles.
