Russians carried out a double strike on the railway station in Shostka, Sumy region, earlier today, October 4. In addition to injuries, one person was killed, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Sumy Region Prosecutor's Office.

"In the carriage of one of the trains hit by an enemy drone at the Shostka railway station, rescuers found the body of a 71-year-old man," the Prosecutor's Office said.

The State Emergency Service confirmed that one person was killed as a result of the Shahed drone strike.

The Prosecutor's Office also noted that the criminal case has been reclassified under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, covering war crimes that result in a human death.

Later at 5:52 PM Kyiv time, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukraine's state railway operator) confirmed that one person had been killed.

"Unfortunately, we have sad news from Shostka. Rescuers found the body of a deceased man. We extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones," the company said.

Russian strike on Shostka station

Around 11:50 AM Kyiv time, Russians attacked a passenger train at the Shostka railway station with a drone while it was waiting to depart. A few minutes later, as passengers were being evacuated, another train was struck.

Reports indicate that Russia hit the locomotive of the suburban train Tereshchynska–Novhorod-Siverskyi and, during the evacuation, the electric locomotive of the Kyiv–Shostka train.

According to Ukraine's Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, about 30 people were injured in the attack.
