On the night of Tuesday, July 16, one of the Russian Shahed-type drones launched from Ukraine flew into the airspace of Belarus. It probably exploded near the city of Babruysk, according to the Belarusian Hajun Telegram channel.

According to preliminary data, the Shahed kamikaze drone entered the airspace of Belarus today at around 08:40 a.m. It is likely to have crashed in the Aktsyabrski district of the Gomel region.

According to Hajun, the Shahed crashed between the village of Parychy and the agricultural town of Lyuban in the Gomel region, 55 kilometers from the city of Babruysk and 120 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

It is also known that a kamikaze drone exploded during the crash. This indicates that the Russian drones that fly into the territory of Belarus are not training or reconnaissance drones, but real drones with ammunition on board. Most likely, they were intended for an attack on the territory of Ukraine.

What preceded it

This morning it became known that the Russian Shahed entered the airspace of Belarus for the third time during the last week.

The previous incident happened on the night of July 13, when Russia attacked Ukraine with five kamikaze drones, four of which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense. The fifth one flew from Ukraine towards Belarus, in particular, towards the Gomel region. On the same day, another Shahed flew into Belarus again, reaching Vitebsk.
