The Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down almost all kamikaze drones that Russian invaders used to strike Ukrainian territory last night, according to the Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that during the night of July 13, the Russians launched five Shahed-type strike drones from Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation) towards Ukraine during an air raid.

Air defense operations

"Four enemy UAVs were shot down by mobile fire groups in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions," said the general.

He specified that the fifth Shahed, which was not neutralized by air defense operations, flew from Ukraine towards Belarus.

"The fifth left Ukrainian airspace in the direction of the Gomel region of Belarus," stated the commander of the Air Forces in a Telegram post.

Night drone attack

Late in the evening on July 12, the Air Forces reported detecting enemy kamikaze drones over Ukrainian territory. An air raid alert was announced in several regions.

By morning, the military reported that air defense was active in the Dnipropetrovsk region due to enemy strike drones heading towards the Kirovohrad region.

Shaheds fly to Belarus

It is worth noting that the current incident, where a kamikaze drone launched by the Russian army during an air raid on Ukraine "retreated" into Belarusian territory, is not the first.

Yesterday, a similar episode with a "lost" Shahed caused the Belarusian Armed Forces to scramble aviation.

According to Belaruski Hayun, on July 12, a Russian UAV was in Belarusian airspace for at least one hour. The drone entered from the Chernihiv region near the village of Loyew and headed northwest.

Additionally, the National Resistance Center previously reported that Belarusian security forces might be preparing provocations under a false flag in the border zone with Ukraine to demonstrate their "strength" to China.
