Ukrainian forces repelled a massive assault by Russian troops west of Pokrovsk. The Russian army attempted to break through along the E-50 highway toward the Dnipropetrovsk region using motorcycles and vehicles, according to the soldiers of the 32nd Separate Mechanized Staleva Brigade.
What the Russian army planned
Russian troops intended to break through along the E-50 highway (Pokrovsk–Pavlohrad) toward Kotlyne. They used 14 motorcycles and two Niva vehicles.
At the same time, Russian infantry was moving along the railway line, attempting to cross the highway and enter Hryshyne.
Drones met the enemy first
The plans of the Russian troops were disrupted by strike drones of the 32nd Staleva Brigade, which intercepted the column on the approach.
After the first FPV drone strikes, the soldiers of the assault units panicked. Those who survived after the initial hits on vehicles were eliminated by Ukrainian infantry in the firefight.
The attempt to enter Hryshyne ended in destruction for the enemy — none of the attackers survived.
Results of one day of fighting:
-
26 Russian soldiers eliminated;
-
14 motorcycles destroyed;
-
2 vehicles destroyed.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russian forces were planning a large-scale assault on Ukrainian positions in March. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained how the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to disrupt the offensive.
Hryshyne has long been a target for Russian forces. They continue trying to take control of the settlement, but Ukrainian troops are preventing these plans from becoming reality.
