Ukrainian defenders have disrupted a Russian strategic offensive operation. The enemy had been preparing to carry it out in March, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The head of state thanked the soldiers defending positions on the front line and destroying the enemy.

"The Ukrainian Defense Forces have disrupted a Russian strategic offensive operation that the enemy planned for this March," the President stressed.

According to him, although enemy assaults are still ongoing, their intensity and scale are not what the Russian army had planned or promised to its political leadership.

"This is important because our strength on the front line is the strength of all Ukrainian positions, our communication with the world, our diplomacy, and the world’s ability to stand with us, no matter what the challenges are," Zelenskyy noted.

He also added that he spoke with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi earlier today, March 16.

"There is every reason to commend our Ukrainian soldiers. Well done, guys," the President said.

Russia's plans

Earlier in early March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian intelligence had obtained documents outlining Russia’s plans for 2026–2027.

He noted that the enemy still aims to fully occupy the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Russian forces are also continuing attempts to advance in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

At the same time, Russia is also "looking at" the Odesa region.

The President stressed that the enemy’s plans have nothing to do with reality.
