Russia wants to destroy pro-Ukrainian coalition, Ukraine prepares response, PM says
Russia is counting on prolonging the war and depriving Kyiv of support from its allies. Ukraine has four strategic components for this scenario, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
As Shmyhal explained, the enemy's main strategy currently involves:
- Prolonging the war.
- Banking on the exhaustion of Ukraine.
- Depriving Ukraine of support from our allies.
"The main goal of Russia is to destroy the pro-Ukrainian coalition, to destroy unity, to reduce our resources for resistance. Our response is these four strategic components," Shmyhal stated.
Among the strategic components are:
- Security agreements with allies. Ukraine has already signed seven such agreements, providing for cooperation and security for our country over the next 10 years.
- Confiscation of assets of the country-terrorist, which will help strengthen our resilience and ability to rebuild quickly now and in the coming years.
- Increasing the resilience and self-sufficiency of our economy.
- Medium-term programs of financial and other assistance with our key allies.
Security commitments for Ukraine
At the NATO Summit in Vilnius, G7 countries signed a declaration of security commitments for Ukraine, which was later joined by a number of other countries.
The agreement covers not only military assistance but also financial and economic support, as well as the recovery of Ukraine. Additionally, the agreements provide for assistance to Kyiv in case of renewed aggression by the Russian Federation.
Among the countries that have signed security guarantees with Ukraine are:
During the visit of the Prime Minister of Greece to Ukraine, Kyiv and Athens also began preparations for a bilateral agreement on security commitments and cooperation.
